Take one XJ40, in black as pictured. Swap in the 4.0l supercharged I6 from an X300 R. LSD rear, brakes and suspension from an X308 R. 5-speed manual, either the Getrag 290 or a tremec kit for a V12. Lumpy cam and silencer bypass valve, little bit of added boost. Badass.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone liking XJ40's over anything else. For me, X308 or series 1. But I love tuning ideas.

Yeah, they're a little unloved.
Personally, I really like them. They're leaps and bounds ahead of the Series technology and reliability-wise, although I do love the body shape of the series.
I really like the whole look of the '40 though. It's less fussy than the Series, and it's pretty much the last Jaguar for a couple of decades that was forward-looking in its design. After it, they spent years of doing retro designs.
I rather like the X308, especially an R in black, but I prefer the '40. Not many people do though :)
